Will Drastic New Technologies in Plastic Development Create a Tangent Away From Current Manufacturing Methods?

A Tangent away from Technologies of the past spurred on by research and continued innovation in the plastics industries has many asking what will the future of plastic lumber look like?  The question is, “Will HDPE be what it is now in 10 years?”  For the most part the manufacturers don’t think so.  High-density polyethylene (HDPE) continues to grow in the marketplace but the really interesting part of all this is the deviations away from pure HDPE that seem to be on the growth fast track.

There are literally hundreds of variations of plastics blends that tangent away from old technologies and introduce new benefits including structural grade reinforced materials as well as greater fade resistance and longevity.  So who is using plastic lumber?

  • Casual Outdoor Furniture
  • Marina – Docks & Boardwalks
  • Urban Site Furnishings
  • Playground equipment
  • Truck Scuff Products
  • Golf Course Products
  • Commercial products – kick boards
  • Leisure industry
  • Pool & Spa
  • Residential decking
  • Custom Profile Solutions

We can’t say for sure all the changes that are around the corner in the marketplace but one thing is for certain.   HDPE and Tangent variations have just began to reach their growth potential in the marketplace and we will continue to see new and improved plastic lumber products reach the marketplace.
